Denon’s new A/V receiver, the AVR-4311CI, is now available and has been chosen as a finalist in the 2010 CEDIA Manufacturers’ Excellence Awards.
The 9.2-channel Network receiver includes a variety of advanced features. It has the Audessey MultEQ 32 Room Correction, which has 32 times the resolution quality than that of the current MultEQ XT system. Additionally, it has Audessey’s new Sub EQ HT that allows the AVR-4311CI to have access to the highest level of audio playback quality.
Vincent Audio has a new HDCD (High Definition Compatible Digital) CD player that offers high-performance CD processing. The CD-S8 model has a fully isolated vacuum tube analog output stage with the option of professional-grade XLR balanced analog connections, state-of-the-art digital processing, and premium DC transport.
The CD-S8 has a Philips VAM1250 CD transport in its digital section, which features low playback noise, great optical reading performance, and a long life expectancy. It also includes a 24-bit digital-to-analog (DAC) converter.
Pioneer Electronics has introduced their new G-Clef components, which include luxury CD players and amplifiers that provide a professional-grade listening experience at an affordable price point.
The Elite G-Clef line includes two amplifiers, the SX-A6MK2 and the SXA9MK2, as well as two CD players, the PD-D6MK2 and PD-D9MK2. Every model was inspected by an AIR Studio sound engineer to ensure the most accurate recreation of the original recording. Internal components deliver signals to create a dynamic two-channel hi-fi experience.
Brèagha ceòl: Linn's new Majik DS-I combines the best bits of their digital player, preamp and digital amplification, all squeezed into one package.
To be honest, I think Linn is an odd company.
Looking at their product lines, you have to wonder if they lack a decent spell-check or are just lifting names straight out of the Ikea catalog.
Digital Audio
Analog Sound
Everyone has music on their computer.
The question though, is what’s the best way to get it from there to your ears?
We take a look at how it all works and poke at three DACs vying for your attention while we're at it.
Don't let the size fool you
Wadia is the maker of one of my favorite products of the past few years: the 170iTransport, the only digital iPod dock.
It was clearly a success for them, as the 151PowerDAC mini was designed to match up with the 170, with a nearly identical form factor.
Wireless DAC
The AirStream is an interesting product.
It's a wireless DAC, nothing more, but in its standard setup the way it goes about it is rather quirky.
10 Best winner, scaled down and spruced up
The 300D is, for the most part, the DAC portion of the 10 Best Award winning MOON i3.3 Integrated Amp.
Hi-fi at 190
Bang & Olufsen finds space in the Aston Martin DB9 for 13 speakers and 1,000 watts.
Geoff finds happiness.
Sync Sounds
I don't drive big cars. Hate them. In my book, if a car's going to weigh 4,300 pounds it better have a second car sitting on top of it.
And despite all that, I was sad to see the MKS go. It's a fantastic ride, mostly due to the THX sound system and, gasp, Microsoft's Sync.
