A Perfect Platter

In the days when rock ‘n’ roll ruled and DJs spun platters that kids listened to over car radios and “transistors,” the biggest hits were called hot wax.

Well, wax or vinyl — or whatever it is that records are really made from — is hot again, as any audiophile will attest.

And proof of that is a product like the Proscenium Black Diamond from Walker Audio.

Walker Proscenium Black Diamond turntable The Proscenium Black Diamond turntable is almost more like a work of industrial art than an audio component.

The Proscenium comes with a tone arm, air supply, motor controller and free installation and setup anywhere in the U.S.

The turntable and arm are made from a proprietary material that Walker claims is 20 times harder than carbon fiber. The 10-inch platter is machined from solid lead and rests on three air bearings.

The arm has its own 45-psi air bearing. Both the arm and drive motor wiring is medical-grade silver, insulated with Teflon.

But you’ll have to pay extra for features such as the Prologue Top Platform (shown in Jatoba and available in Maple) or a custom equipment rack.

Walker also offers a Reference Phono Amplifier, encased in the same gorgeous woods.

PRICE: $46,000, turntable only
